The “Electro-mechanical Landing gear system Integration for Small Aircraft” (E-LISA) research project has the objective of developing an innovative “iron bird”, a testing facility dedicated to executing tests on landing small aircraft. This document presents structural analyses this complex machine performed with Finite Element Method (FEM). Key purposes these numerical simulations were quantifications stress and displacement fields under loading conditions foreseen machine. A modal analysis was aim calculating eigenvalues eigenvectors useful provide assessment dynamic response. most critical mode shapes related frequencies calculated, potentially rotational speeds quantified. Finally, Peak Stress (PSM) adopted quantify fatigue resistance weldments infinite life assessed one. design machine, which is currently manufacturing, validated by presented here.
